Dhanteras (also known as Dhantrayodashi) falls on Trayodashi tithi of Kartika maas Krishna paksh.

On this day, prayers are offered to Mata Laxmi and Dhanvantri Ji, indicating the beginning of Diwali celebrations. It is considered that Mata Laxmi blesses each home with her presence from Dhanteras to Diwali. This day is also regarded as the day Dhanvantri Ji emerged from the ocean holding the nectar of immortality.
