Maha Mrityunjaya Yag 2021
Shree Sanatan Dharm Purohit Maha Sabha Australia, Inc. in association with Shree Sita Ram Mandir held their annual Maha Mrityunjaya Yag on November 14th, 2021. Purohits and devotees from around Sydney attended the event where a continuous hawan yag took place.
After prayers, purohits and devotees chanted several malas (108 chants) of the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra whilst offering samagri. Aarti and shanti paath were followed by prasad and mahaprasad for all.
Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra
ॐ त्र्य॑म्बकं यजामहे सु॒गन्धिं॑ पुष्टि॒वर्ध॑नम् ।
om tryambakam yajaamahe sugandhim pushtivardhanam |
i worship the three-eyed one [Lord Shiva] whose spiritual fragrance nourishes all beings |
उ॒र्वा॒रु॒कमि॑व॒ बन्ध॑नान् मृ॒त्योर्मु॑क्षीय॒ माऽमृता॑॑त् ।।
urvaarukamiva bandhanaan mrityormukshiya maamritaat ||
as a ripe cucumber is freed from the creeper, may he free us from death but not from immortality ||
